Ihara takes the main technologies to the 46th Expocitros
Company presents a complete line of products aimed at citrus farming
Open Field Day 2021 starts today, July 20th, from 19pm, via live streams, and continues until Thursday. The 2nd online edition of the event, which is a reference for the year's launches in horticulture, brings news from the Topseed Premium and Superseed professional lines, as well as special presentations on watermelon and tomato crops and improvements to tropical carrots and lettuce. There will also be a showing of a real case about vegetable processing and an analysis of consumption trends.
The lives will be broadcast on the channel Agristar YouTube and also by Company Facebook. On July 20th, the virtual event will be dedicated to Bulb and Root crops, with specialist Samuel Sant'anna and Cucurbitáceas, with Rafael Zamboni, who will present the novelty that has been considered a market trend: the Sun watermelon, from yellow pulp, without seeds. “It has an average weight of between 4 and 5 kilos and a very different flavor”, he highlights.
Among the news in Bulbs and Roots, Sant'anna will talk about the Canarana onion, aimed at the Northeast region, with planting indicated for the second half of the year and extending until January. “This is a new material that will add a lot to the producer, as it has high production potential, with a high yield of box 3 bulbs and the big difference is in the quality of the skin, as it has a dark yellow color.”
On Wednesday, July 21st, in the second live of the event, the program continues with Roberto Araújo who will talk about the cultures of the Cinturão Verde and Silvio Nakagawa about Hardwoods and Brassicas. “We will launch specialty lettuces, Frisby and Luminosa. Frisby has gained market share both for producers who plant in the field and for hydroponics, in addition to the Luminosa purple lettuce that serves the farmer's market who sells by box or by weight”, points out Nakagawa.
In the case of Nevasca cauliflower, Nakagawa says that the material is the result of work over several years to adapt to changes in the climate that have been changing year by year. “In this way, Nevasca was launched with this purpose, to meet climate instability, in addition to the need for the material to be resistant to diseases”, explains the specialist.
Regarding the Green Belt crops, Roberto Araújo will highlight Coimbra coriander which, in just a short time of launch, has already gained the preference of producers who cultivate the product, especially because it presents strong resistance. “There is currently no coriander on the market with as much resistance and tolerance to early bolting as it does. This material lasts 25 days longer in the field than other coriander,” he highlights.
On the last day, July 22nd, the event's live stream will be dedicated to tomatoes and peppers, with Thiago Teodoro. In his participation, the specialist will discuss the Evimeria tomato which, in addition to its complete resistance package, will present other advantages such as the size of the fruit and its firmness. Also noteworthy is the Arezzo tomato which, in addition to being a large fruit, has a very high production ceiling.
The biggest launch of the year, according to Teodoro, is the Garra tomato. “It is mainly aimed at the summer period, is very resistant to leaf diseases and is a very safe product for the producer”, he comments.
For this year's edition of the event, Agristar is preparing a special series of topics of interest to producers with company researchers and guests.
The first live, on July 20th, will feature two special topics to be discussed: “Improvement of tropical carrots” and “Seedless watermelons and the use of super-pollinators”. On July 21st, it will be time for the themes “The vegetable processing market and consumption trends”, with the case of La Vitta, a HF processing company, and “improving lettuce cultivation, seeking resistance to downy mildew”. On the last day, July 22nd, the live will talk about “How to produce tomatoes more safely during the rainy season”.
