Last week, Castrolanda held another edition of 'Conexão Agrícola', an event aimed at cooperative members to talk about harvest expectations and market updates. As usual, the meetings were divided into two stages.

On the first day, May 26, the Agricultural Business Area team met with members from the Itaberá region (SP). On May 27th, it was Piraí do Sul's turn to host the meeting. Both events took place in Castrolanda units.

The proposal for the meetings was similar. The conversation began with a brief summary of the summer harvest and Castrolanda's main investments aimed at receiving, drying and storing grains. The presentation was made by the Cooperative's Grain Business Manager, Diógenes Novakowiski.

The data presented showed a great evolution in the reception of corn from cooperative members: Castrolanda went from 71 thousand tons of the last harvest to 138 thousand – an increase of 94,3% compared to the previous year. The value still brings an increase of 19% in relation to the planned reception of corn. The numbers only take into account the summer harvest. With off-season corn, the expectation is that the Cooperative will reach the mark of 200 thousand tons received from cooperative members alone.

Soybeans brought an increase of more than 6 thousand tons compared to the 2021 harvest, representing an increase of 7% in the reception of the grain. Due to a wetter year, Castrolanda needed to intensify the soybean drying process.

Afterwards, Castrolanda's Commercial Input Coordinator, Fabio Siebert, provided insight into the global market for fertilizers, pesticides and their derivatives. The current situation, driven by the war between Russia and Ukraine, has brought an average growth of 30% in input prices in a very short space of time. The scenario of uncertainty caused by changes in maritime routes, trade sanctions and money flow issues make any predictions on the subject difficult, according to the presentation.

The conversation continued with the presentation of the seed scenario for the 2022/2023 harvest in Castrolanda, led by the Seeds commercial supervisor, Heitor Portella. Members also learned about the new features of the Ágil Castrolanda application.

Entitled 'Market Operations Connection', it aims to provide producers with a faster, more effective and safer way of marketing products within the cooperative, in addition to allowing the member to have more visibility of the agribusiness market.

In the application, the user has access to agricultural trends, market information, updated quotes for the main commodities and variations in the dollar. There you can carry out transactions, authorize the sale of products and monitor sales records. The entire process makes the member even closer to Castrolanda through a more agile tool.

To close the meeting, the São Paulo members received a presentation on the global scenario of the commodities market, led by the CEO of OpenSolo, Eduardo Gradiz. Those present at the Piraí do Sul event participated in a chat with Itaú BBA's Agribusiness consultant, Cesar de Castro.
