Agribusiness GDP saw successive declines throughout the first three quarters of the year, accumulating a drop of 4,28% from January to September 2022. This finding is from Cepea, from Esalq/USP, which calculates the indicator in partnership with CNA .
The main basis for this scenario is the sharp rise in input costs in the sector, both in agriculture and agribusiness, which has eroded GDP throughout the chains, according to the researchers' analysis. From January to September, the GDP of the agricultural sector fell by a significant 5,69%, and livestock, by a slight 0,24%.
Considering the partial performances of the Brazilian economy and agribusiness, Cepea estimates that the sector's share in the total will be around 25% in 2022, slightly below the 27% recorded in 2021 – this is because this year's drop is seen in the face of to the record level of GDP achieved in 2021.
