​Agribusiness exports exceed 2015 for the fourth consecutive month

Agribusiness exported US$1,275 billion in August. The result represents an increase of 15,8% compared to the same period in 2015 and 72,9% of the total sold by Rio Grande do Sul in the period. This is the fourth consecutive month with a positive result in the comparison between 2016 and the previous year, according to the Agribusiness Foreign Trade Report, released by the Farsul System Economic Advisory this Thursday (15/09).

Soy (26,4%) and tobacco and its products (48,4%) are mainly responsible for the increase in exported value. The sector's trade balance balance was US$1,183 billion, with a volume of 2,150 million tons. From January to August, the state exported US$7,908 billion, an increase of 0,87% compared to 2015. This is the first time that 2016 has surpassed last year in total.

The last four months were fundamental in the recovery of agribusiness exports. In the period between January and April, the difference between 2016 and 2015 was -14,8%. Forest products and soybeans drove the result with growth of 83% and 4,7% respectively. The volume sold also shows growth (2,7%) in relation to the previous year.

In relation to July 2016, there was a drop of 3,48% in value and 11,7% in volume sold. Reflection of June, peak of exports for the year. Despite the drop, beef (31,5%), chicken (3,7%) and pork (15,7%) recorded a positive result. China remains the main destination for agribusiness in Rio Grande do Sul with a continuous increase in its share (39,93%), reaching US$3,157 billion.
