Soybean exports break record in April and Arab market shows promise
Exports to the Middle East, in the first quarter, resulted in total revenue of US$ 157 million; Saudi Arabia and Iran were the countries that imported the most
In the month of April, agribusiness was responsible for 84,05% of the total exported by Goiás, totaling 808,69 million dollars. The data was released by Comex Stat of the Ministry of Economy and compiled by the Market Intelligence Management of the State Secretariat for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa). In total, the State recorded 962,15 million dollars in exports.
The soy complex leads agricultural exports with 77,19% of the total (624,23 million dollars), followed by the meat complex, with 15,75% (127,34 million dollars). Within the meat complex, the highlights are beef (88,53 million dollars) and chicken meat (35,58 million dollars).
Also appearing among the highlights on the April agenda are exports of leather (16,18 million dollars), the sugar and alcohol complex (9,23 million dollars), cotton (7,5 million dollars), corn (5,56 million dollars) and coffee (1,31 million dollars).
From January to April, agribusiness already accumulates 2,15 billion dollars exported in Goiás, which represents 78,36% of the total exported by the State in the year to date. Of this total, 1,39 billion dollars come from soybeans (64,85%) and 472,88 million dollars from the meat complex (21,97%).
In the assessment of the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Tiago Mendonça, the good performance of the agricultural exports list maintains a trend that includes the weight of the products most exported by the State, with the increase in the diversification of the list. “Producers in the State, with the support of the Government of Goiás, have done an exceptional job with production records, especially in the main commodities, such as soybeans and corn”, he considers. “At the same time, we see other products gaining prominence, including items such as leather, sugar-alcohol complex, cotton, coffee, among others, which have a positive impact on the diversification of exports. This contributes to development on several fronts, especially due to the demand that brings income, moves the economy and creates jobs.”
