Agrex do Brasil announced the hiring of Renato Garcia, a former Cargill executive, as its head of commodities. The change is part of the company's growth strategy and is part of the long-term plan of its Japanese shareholders.

Renato Garcia will be responsible for the entire strategy of Agrex's commodities business unit, which includes origination, trading, grain storage, logistics and the deactivated soybean production unit.

He will report directly to the company’s COO, Rafael Villarroel. The hiring is in line with Agrex’s objectives of expanding and modernizing its operations, particularly in the commodities sector.

"This change is part of our growth acceleration strategy, which aims to expand our area of operations, infrastructure and customer base. Our goal is to take advantage of opportunities in agriculture and increasingly better meet the growing demand from producers for more integrated and efficient operations," said Villarroel.

Agrex also recently announced an investment of R$700 million to accelerate the growth of current operations and study new acquisitions.

With the hiring of Garcia, Kenji Akiyama, who until now was "head of commodities", will now take on the role of CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) and CCO (Chief Compliance Officer). Akiyama will continue to lead investments and M&A processes, with the aim of accelerating organic growth and expanding the company's acquisition portfolio.

Renato Garcia, who holds a degree in production engineering and an MBA in business management and international trade, has a solid 27-year career at Cargill. During his career, he has worked in several regions, such as MG, MATOPIBA, PA and Vale do Araguaia (MT), and has led teams in the areas of grain origination, trading, logistics, warehouses and futures and derivatives pricing. His experience also includes leading M&A processes and important investments, which contributed to the expansion of Cargill's operations.
