AgBiome celebrates new agreement with subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation

AgBiome announced the next step in its partnership with Summit Agro México: it has granted it exclusive distribution rights for Howler fungicide in the country. All in accordance with the development and registration agreement between the two companies signed in April 2019. Summit Agro México has requested the registration of Howler fungicide in Mexico and expects approval by the fourth quarter of 2023.

"AgBiome and Summit Agro México worked together to develop Howler for commercial use in Mexico. This distribution and supply agreement will allow Summit Agro México to commercialize Howler fungicide in an important and rapidly growing agricultural market, while expanding its presence internationally", said Toni Bucci, Head of Operations at AgBiome.

AgBiome began the collaboration in April 2019 with the signing of a Development and Registration Agreement with the parent company, Sumitomo Corporation, which allows the subsidiary companies to develop, register and commercialize the Howler fungicide.

Under this agreement, Summit Agro Mexico S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, developed the complete registration for the regional use of Howler fungicide in the specialty crops market in Mexico.

Howler fungicide in Brazil

AgBiome, through a subsidiary, registered the brand "Howler" in Brazil in 2016. It also has several patents in the country, some relating to pesticides. However, the product is not yet registered for use.

In the United States, where Howler is registered, the company informs that it “contains the active ingredient Pseudomonas chlororaphis strain AFS009 for use against rhizoctonia, Pythium, Fusarium, Phytophthora, sclerotinia, Colletotrichum e Botrytis".

There is, in Brazil, a registered product containing Pseudomonas fluorescens (strain CCTB03); but it belongs to another company.

Obviously, there are monograph on bacteria.
