The Brazilian Tobacco Growers Association, organizer of Expoagro Afubra, is sensitive to the current situation involving the issue of coronavirus in the country and the world, and in compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health, which “establishes measures to face the public health emergency of importance due to the coronavirus (Covid-19), as well as the Brazilian Society of Infectious Diseases (SBI)”, decided to cancel Expoagro Afubra, a fair focused on family farming, which would take place between March 18 and 21, 2020, in Rincão Del Rey , municipality of Rio Pardo/RS.

The entity deeply regrets this fact, but, at this time, it is vital to join forces to contain the escalation of the disease and protect the population, avoiding crowds of people, as an audience of approximately 150 thousand people was expected over the four days of the event.

Afubra's decision is also strictly following one of the mottos that guide its activities of “one for all and all for one”. "It is time to make a decision, thinking about collective well-being," said the statement.

"Thus, acting with the social responsibility that belongs to it and that has always guided its trajectory in its 65 years of existence, which would be celebrated precisely during the course of the fair, on March 21st, Afubra takes this position with sadness, but in certainty to be doing the best for rural producers and the community in general, who usually attend Expoagro Afubra", concludes the statement.
