Adoption of biostimulants in Brazilian agriculture reaches 30% in 2023

The biostimulants sector in Brazil has been growing and is estimated to represent 3,7 billion dollars this year due to the increase in the adoption of organic products by Brazilian farmers. According to the person responsible for the company Elicit Plant in Brazil, Felipe Sulzbach (in the photo), adoption in the country reaches 30%, while worldwide this rate is around 18%. When talking about the sector in Brazil, Sulzbach highlights that biostimulants are becoming increasingly important in crops due to the growing demand for agricultural productivity and food security.

Elicit Plant, an agribiotech company that was born in France, began this year the internationalization of its portfolio in important markets in Europe, North America and South America, mainly in Brazil. According to Sulzbach, the company developed a plant elicitor that is an innovative biostimulant through the use of phytosterol technology, a molecule naturally found in plants. He explains that the solution is to naturally stimulate plant metabolism in the face of abiotic stress, reducing the need for water and allowing better resistance to water stress, for example.

Sulzbach also spoke about Elicit Plant's trends for the biostimulants sector in Brazil in 2024. He said that the prospects for the agricultural sector next year, according to several sources, are optimistic. “Margins tend to be positive, but climate and logistics will be major concerns. Furthermore, the biostimulants market is expected to reach 6,6 billion dollars by 2024, growing around 10% during the period until 2029”, he notes stating that the sector is bringing great benefits to the farmer and to agriculture as one all.
