The Pará State Agricultural Defense Agency (Adepará) has issued a warning to rural producers about the inappropriate use of sanitizing and molluscicide disinfectants and products based on metaldehyde. According to the institution's Agrochemicals Management, complaints were received that these products, licensed by Anvisa for domestic control of slugs and snails, are being sold for agricultural use, which is prohibited.

Adepará emphasizes that the use of products licensed exclusively for domestic use in agricultural crops constitutes a misuse of their intended purpose and violates legal standards. Violations include the inappropriate use of agrochemicals, the acquisition of products without an agronomic prescription, and risks to human health, in addition to harm to the well-being of domestic and wild animals.

For the safe and legal control of molluscs in agricultural crops, the agency advises that producers purchase molluscicide products duly registered with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and use the agronomic prescription provided by a qualified professional.

Adopting these practices ensures consumer and environmental safety, in addition to avoiding legal sanctions. For further information or questions, Adepará is at the producers' disposal.
