This week, in Vila Industrial de Laranjeiras do Sul, Adapar, in joint action with the 2nd Civil Police Subdivision and the Military Police Battalion, carried out an inspection on a shed suspected of counterfeiting fertilizers.

During the action, the presence of two granulated fertilizer mixers, 315 new big bag packaging, 120 product identification labels, 191 tons of fertilizer packed in big bags and 3 tons in 30 kg bags, both without identification and labeling.

In total, 194 thousand kilos of fertilizers were seized without proof of origin and quality. Used packaging containing the logo of several fertilizer manufacturers, which were being used to package the suspected material, was also found.

The shed where the illegal formal fertilizers were being manufactured was closed and the products, materials and equipment were seized by Adapar. An investigation will be carried out to determine the origin of the raw materials used in manufacturing.

Samples of the products were collected to determine the composition of the materials and possible presence of contaminants and heavy metals, in addition to issuing a notice of infraction motivated by producing and selling fertilizers without registration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and by fraud and falsification of fertilizers.

After the results of the analyzes on the samples collected, the fate of the seized material will be determined.

The use of irregularly produced fertilizers on crops reduces the productivity of the planted crop and the possible contamination of the environment by heavy metals such as arsenic, lead and mercury, considered highly toxic to humans and animals.
