2024/25 soybean harvest in Mato Grosso faces climate and logistical challenges
Lack of infrastructure is one of the main obstacles for the agricultural sector
Adama Ltd. reported an 11% decline in sales in 2024, reaching revenue of $4,14 billion. Adjusted net loss narrowed 13% to $206 million for the year.
According to the company's statement, the "Fight Forward" strategy, launched in 2024, provided important advances, especially in the generation of positive free cash flow of US$ 217 million, a significant improvement compared to the negative result of US$ 147 million in the previous year.
Adama CEO Gaël Hili highlighted that the plan prioritizes efficient operations, value-driven products and strategic markets.
In the product area, in 2024, 22% of the company's sales came from products launched in the last five years. Of note are the insecticide Forpido in India and the herbicide Edaptis in Europe, both protected by Adama's patented technologies.
The company has also advanced with the Sesgama formulation, which provides a sustainable profile by reducing the amount of co-formulants and transport and packaging materials per hectare treated.
In the patent field, Adama has obtained approval in China for the soluble liquid formulation of the herbicide Saflufenacil and in Australia for the proprietary formulation Quadrant. In addition, it has registered differentiated products in important agricultural markets, strengthening its global position.
In Brazil, Adama's sales grew strongly in fungicides (Almada, Blindado TOV, for example) and insecticides (Magnum, for example). There was a decline in non-selective herbicides. Despite this, price pressures and the weak currency negatively impacted performance.
In the rest of Latin America, sales were weaker compared to 2023, mainly due to increased competition and “just-in-time” purchasing patterns.
