Last week, Adama presented its biological launch of the year for sugarcane, Protege. The microbiological fungicide and nematicide is a triple combination of bacteria (Bacillus thuringiensis + Bacillus velezensis + Bacillus amyloliquefaciens) with different modes of action on nematodes, providing control of these parasites and protecting productivity.

According to Adama's Regional Marketing Manager, Estevão Bernardes, the main challenges facing sugarcane mills and producers in these regions are reducing costs and increasing productivity and longevity of the sugarcane field. “With Protege, it is possible to carry out an effective treatment, as it provides vigor to the sugarcane field, health to the plants, profitability, and, also, sustainability”, he states. Bernardes also explains that biosolution is an important tool for controlling nematodes and contributes to the construction of a favorable productive environment for plants to develop.

Some sugarcane areas in the North and Northeast of Brazil have an incidence of nematodes, which can cause various damages to the crop and lead to losses in productivity and producer profitability. “It is important to highlight that the damage caused by nematodes can be more intense in crops located in sandier areas. In these cases, the adoption of solutions that help control nematodes in sugarcane needs to be considered by sugarcane growers. Therefore, last week, we held the event A new Adama in sugarcane in Ipojuca, Pernambuco, for more than 60 customers and eight partner distributors in the region and presented Adama's portfolio to help farmers in the North and Northeast regions, with emphasis on It also protects our herbicide Jumbo”, adds Bernardes.

Jumbo is Adama's newest herbicide for controlling grasses and broad leaves in sugarcane, which has added to our crop portfolio. “Adama’s focus is to develop solutions that increasingly contribute to the sustainability of agriculture, with products that help to increase productivity, quality and, consequently, the profitability of sugarcane crops, such as Jumbo and Protege”, reinforces Estevão Bernardes .

Investments in biosolutions

The launch of Protege is part of Adama's investments in the biosolutions portfolio, which includes biological and plant biostimulation products. Due to the importance of these solutions for Brazilian producers and agribusiness in general, the company brings this line to the market and, with it, expects to achieve annual revenue of 50 million dollars within five years.

The efficiency of biosolutions is recognized and Adama believes in the combination of chemical and biological products for better crop management. “In addition, the company works to have increasingly sustainable products, meeting the needs of Brazilian agriculture, that is, delivering differentiated products according to what the producer needs and brings us challenges in their daily lives”, concludes Bernardes.
