According to Federarroz, confirmation of exports to that country shows that demand remains strong
Since 2019, Adama has been investing heavily in training good practices in the field with farmers from the main producing regions of the country. Under the ADAMA C.U.I.D.A (Commitment to the Intelligent Use of Pesticides) platform, the initiative is one of the company's sustainability commitments and this year's goal is to train thousands of farmers, operators and applicators from the main agricultural states in the country, such as: Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia.
“It is important to train farmers to optimize the phytosanitary management of crops, reducing losses due to drift and improving the quality of applications, for example. There are studies that indicate losses of 20% to 50% in applications, resulting from inadequate practices in operational procedures and misuse of the sprayer. Therefore, more than a responsibility, bringing sustainability to the field is a commitment from Adama”, highlights Marcelo Gimenes, the company's Market Development manager.
One of Adama's sustainability fronts is the commitment to the sustainable use of pesticides in the field, which is worked on from formulating a solution, through encouraging and valuing the conscious use of products, to training to ensure that information about the correct and safe application of the pesticide reaches farmers.
Adama believes that it is important to provide training beyond property managers so that the intelligent use of pesticides is truly ensured. “The main thing, in addition to training farm owners, is to go directly to the operator, as he is the responsible person who is there on a daily basis and knows the challenges and difficulties at the time of application. The assertive message for this audience is what guarantees the use of information, resulting in the correct, safe and sustainable use of phytosanitary products in the field”, says Gimenes.
The actions have a theoretical and practical part. The latter involves proper handling of products, personal protective equipment (PPE), instructions on the correct sequence of mixing products in the tank and calibration of sprayers. “Although many Adama products, because they are innovative, eliminate tank mixing, our course is about how to achieve the best application according to what the producer has on the property, ensuring maximum safety and sustainability in the crop”, explains Gimenes.
In Rio Grande do Sul, in partnership with the state's main cooperatives, Adama has been supporting and implementing courses on application technology and good agricultural practices. Furthermore, the company has been carrying out training on the best application of hormonal herbicides in several municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul. In the months of October and November, producers in the states of Paraná, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Maranhão and Tocantins will receive Adama teams in the training cycle with the aim of promoting dissemination and training actions on good agricultural practices in application technology, aiming to the Economic, Social and Environmental Sustainability of crops.
