Rising movement in rice prices has been observed since the end of August
The advance is linked to heated external demand, which favors the reduction of surpluses in the Brazilian market
Re-elected for the 2023/2024 biennium, the executive board of the Brazilian Association of Soy Seed Producers (ABRASS), presented updated data on the seed business scenario. The election ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 30, at Dúnia City Hall, in Brasília (DF).
Having led the association for two years, as president, Gladir Tomazelli thanked the multipliers for supporting the work carried out and for the trust placed in this board to continue the mission in defense of the sector's interests.
“We will have two more years of hard work ahead of us where we will do more and more to meet the demands and important agendas for the soybean seed industry”, highlighted Tomazelli.
On the occasion, the lecture – “Overview of the Soy Seed Market”, was presented by the managing partner of Blink Projetos Estratégicos, Lars Schobinger, who presented an updated scenario on the production chain.
According to the research, in the 21/22 harvest the total soybean seed market in Brazil grew by 6% compared to the previous year's harvest, with production of approximately 52 million bags (40Kg), moving around R$20,7, XNUMX billion reais.
Regarding the soybean seed production complex in Brazil, data from Blink indicate that in the 21/22 harvest in terms of market value, variables, we can talk about almost R$30 billion in movement.
“These costs were collected through checking with multipliers and obtainers of relevance in the market. This shows the significant contribution and participation of the segment in the economy and agricultural development”, explained Schobinger.
Thus, considering a production potential of 80 million bags of seeds at an implementation cost of R$30 million reais for a structure of 500.000 bags, this chain has 7 thousand workers in the Supply Units (UBS), plus 3 thousand harvesters, 238 certified soybean seed producers and R$4,5 billion in industrial structure.
The advance in grain production in the country was also supported by the increase in technology by farmers. “We can see the great improvement in productivity and consequent production, as a result of better seeds, CP and the adoption of fertilizers”, stated Lars.
Regarding growth potential, Schobinger stated that Brazil is and will continue to be the world's breadbasket in the coming years. “Brazil’s participation in the world food market jumped, in ten years, from US$20,6 billion to US$100 billion, that is, capable of feeding around 800 million people in the world”, pointed out the director of Blink .
Environmentally responsible production was highlighted as a point to be an example worldwide. “Our sector does completely sustainable work without the need to advance in any biome in the country, a reason for pride and optimism to show the world market”, commented Schobinger.
The segment's progress is a reflection of the sector's unity and representation. On the occasion, the presence of multipliers, farmers, authorities from the Parliamentary Agricultural Front (FPA), federal deputies, representatives of associations in the segment, breeding companies, research institutions and other special guests emphasized the importance of the sector to Brazilian agribusiness .
“You have a bench that is organized and working hard to defend the interests of rural producers and each of the agricultural sectors, we see the advances we have achieved through this composition and entities like ABRASS. The doors are open for you in the National Congress”, declared federal deputy Pedro Lupion (PP).
The relationship between seed producers and soybean farmers continues to be based on the implementation of common and relevant issues. “The fight against piracy, the right to safe seed and better cultivars, we certainly won't give up in defense of the rural producer himself. We are open to dialogue and have already talked to reach a consensus, we are two links in the chain that need to be increasingly united!”, declared Antônio Galvan, president of Aprosoja Brasil.
“The seed and the soybean producer need to be at the same table, they need to understand that together they will be able to overcome challenges that affect both sides. This way, they will be able to reduce the conflict that affects a group. Congratulations on this greatness and maturity, this is the great role of those who, in addition to producing, decided to implement good politics within their associations and only politics to actually make the transformation that each sector needs, that the country needs”, congratulated Nilson Leitão president of the Instituto Pensar Agropecuária (IPA).
The joint work of the associations and the ruralist bench was also highlighted. “The entities provide us with technical support so that we have the opportunity to represent their causes. The numbers demonstrated here today show that in 5 years we will grow 69% in production and the global map that was exposed here, no other country in the world can achieve this. Therefore, we at the Parliamentary Front have a great responsibility, especially in this upcoming legislature, to take care of our sector”, concluded Sérgio Souza, president of the Agricultural Parliamentary Front (FPA).
