Listen, guide, support, set an example. Verbs and attitudes essential to the challenge of leadership in building transformative teams were highlighted at the official opening of the ABRASS 2022 Academy, in an online event last Wednesday (20). In its third edition, the project is carried out by the Brazilian Association of Soy Seed Producers (ABRASS), curated by MPrado Consultoria Empresarial and supported by the multinational Bayer.
The ABRASS Academy aims to train directors and managers of Brazilian seed companies to use modern management tools that promote sustainable business development. The expectation is that soybean seed multipliers will advance their strategies to constantly improve their activities and sectors of activity.
The knowledge shared in the project is organized into four thematic axes: commercial, humanities, finance and management. The online meetings will last until September. For Naiara Leonel, collaborator at Coopadap Sementes, a valuable period of personal and collective improvement. “I speak without any fear of making mistakes: what I have already learned in previous editions of the Academy, in a practical and dynamic way, I had seen superficially in my 4 and a half year degree. I am passionate about the project and I am convinced that at the end of the day I will have more knowledge to manage my team.”
Master in Management and Technology in Production Systems, professor Marcelo Masini highlights that the challenge of leadership begins with self-knowledge and self-management. During the presentations of the edition's opening class, the leadership specialist observed contemporary challenges and the skills to be worked on by a leader truly engaged in his mission. “In order for us to have effective individuals, who are part of effective teams and who generate effective organizations, our worldview needs to be permanently updated. Otherwise we will think that what brought us here takes us to the future. It’s a great cycle, being-doing-obtaining, essential in life.”
The Brazilian Association of Seed Producers celebrates its 2022th anniversary in 10. The entity's objective is to bring together soybean seed multipliers from all over Brazil, in an institutional and multidisciplinary environment that strengthens soybean seed production, values the activity and its final product, reverting benefits to the entire soybean production chain.
“The ABRASS Academy expresses all of these objectives. We hope that the sector is recognized and valued, as we have a very valuable work! The investments that the seed sector makes, the technologies it develops, with the generation of demand for genetics and biotechnology, contribute greatly to the increase in production and productivity in Brazilian agriculture. We are proud to bring knowledge to the teams, to increasingly improve the performance of seed companies”, highlights the president of ABRASS, Gladir Tomazelli.
According to Fernando Prudente, executive director of sales at Bayer, the evolution in the seed multiplier segment in recent years is notable. It reinforces the importance of institutional strengthening among members of the production chain, guided by dialogue and knowledge. “Training is the basis for recognition in the sector and ABRASS’ contribution to the Brazilian market is already visible. When it comes to improving the soybean chain, Bayer will always be at the disposal of ABRASS and its associates.”
