The Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers (Abrapa) announces the expansion of its international actions following the "Indonesia-Bangladesh Mission". The entity plans 12 more commercial exchanges to promote Brazilian cotton globally.

The mission, carried out from February 26th to March 1st, had the collaboration of the National Association of Cotton Exporters (Anea) and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). Miguel Faus, president of Anea, assessed the mission as very successful, highlighting the mix of technical debates and moments of relaxation.

During the mission, "Cotton Brazil Outlook" seminars were held in Jakarta and Dhaka, exceeding public expectations and bringing together important decision-makers. Indonesia, despite a 35% drop in cotton imports in the 2022/23 marketing year, expects a 20% increase for 2023/24. Bangladesh, on the other hand, is looking to diversify its cotton suppliers, with Brazil already accounting for 16% of its imports.

Brazil, the world's second largest cotton exporter since 2019, projects to export 2,34 million tons in the 2023/24 commercial year. Cotton Brazil's international mission agenda for 2024 also includes the European Market, Thailand, China, Turkey, Egypt, Vietnam, India, Taiwan, Japan and the United States. In the months of July and August, fate is reversed and Brazilian cotton farmers open their properties to welcome industrialists and importers in the so-called Buyers Mission.
