Young people, aged 18 and over, residing in the municipality of Luís Eduardo Magalhães, in Bahia, or in surrounding cities, who are studying the 3rd year or have completed high school, can apply for one of the 25 available vacancies, free of charge, by the Bahia Association of Cotton Producers (Abapa) and the National Industry System (Senai), Bahia region, for the agricultural machinery maintenance mechanic course. Registration will be open between the 4th and 22nd of July. The selection takes place in five eliminatory stages and the winners will receive a transport and food allowance for school days.

According to the president of Abapa, Luiz Carlos Bergamaschi, this course is important both for training a specialized workforce to operate advanced technology machines, and for increasing the students' employability level. “The vacancies are open to people from the community and not just to employees of producers associated with Abapa, in an initiative aligned with our Social Responsibility policy. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to receive Senai-quality content, within a first-rate structure, which is the Abapa Training Center,” he stated.

Bergamaschi highlights that, currently, there is a shortage of agricultural machinery mechanics in the region, which has meant that Abapa has gone beyond training those who are already working on farms, to train professionals in the community itself. “As the demand is great and urgent, we need to ensure that the selection reaches the closest to the ideal, in terms of the profiles and CVs chosen. This is the reason why the steps and prerequisites for this course are higher than what is normally required in our courses,” he explains.

The selection will follow five stages: registration, document analysis, in-person test, profile assessment and technical interview. The notice even provides for a penalty for those who withdraw, for breach of contract. Students who persist in classes until completion will receive a grant, worth R$24 per day of class, of which R$7 is for transportation and R$16 for food. Although it is not a mandatory requirement, it is desirable that candidates have a National Driving License (CNH) in Category B.
