From this Monday (15th), registrations for the third edition of the Women of Agriculture Award, which values innovative and sustainable management practices of Brazilian rural producers and livestock farmers. The initiative, created by Bayer, in partnership with the Brazilian Agribusiness Association (ABAG), is aimed at women who stand out in managing agricultural properties, whether small, medium or large, and aims to recognize and give voice for female action in agriculture. This year's registrations run from June 15th to September 15th, 2020.

"Women have already broken with several barriers and stereotypes, at the head of their properties, they are setting an example of sustainable production and innovation in the field. In this scenario, with this Award, annually, we have the opportunity to recognize this leading role and show the society the relevance of rural women", highlights Gislaine Balbinot, Communications Manager at Abag. Since its first edition in 2018, more than 300 producers have signed up to the initiative, which has already awarded 18 producers from various regions of Brazil.

For manager Carla Rossato, from Sertanópolis, Paraná, winner in 2019 in the Large Property category, "participating in the Women of Agro Award, first of all, was self-knowledge. Since registering for the initiative, I have seen how much I have already done and experienced in my career in the field. In addition to meeting many women who, like me, had inspiring experiences in this sector, for me, just having a story to submit for an award like this was already a victory, but when I won, I was very happy and honored. It is gratifying to see the work that we build, daily, being recognized in an event that evaluates productions from across the country."

The award's theme is "Innovative Management" and will recognize initiatives for good agricultural practices and sustainable management with a focus on economic, social and environmental pillars such as: rational use of natural resources, increased production efficiency with innovative management, projects that enable development social welfare of the community or property collaborators, animal welfare and valorization of human capital. The candidates who place in the first three places in each category (small, medium and large property) will be awarded prizes, which means a total of nine finalists.

"Bayer recognizes the strength and importance of women inside and outside the gate and wants to contribute to ensuring that women's role in agricultural leadership is increasingly greater, efficient and definitive. Therefore, through Women of Agriculture Award We are committed to showing stories of women farmers who, on a daily basis, make a difference in food production in Brazil", explains Daniela Barros, director of Corporate Communications for the agricultural area at Bayer Brasil.

In 2020, the Award was reinforced by a group of ambassadors, women who stand out for their trajectories and good agricultural practices. Sônia Bonato (GO), Carla Rossato (PR), Dulce Ciochetta (MT), Cristiane Steinmetz (GO), Geni Schenkell (MT) and Luciane Rheinheimer (RS) are the rural producers and Ambassadors of this year's edition of the Award. They have the important role of encouraging other women farmers to sign up for this year's awards.

Geni Schenkell, for example, who is part of the team, is leader of the Agroligadas group, in Mato Grosso, with more than 250 women. "Being an Ambassador for the Award gave me a lot of joy and gratitude for understanding that receiving this title is recognition for the work I have been doing with Agroligadas. Without a doubt, it makes me believe that I can encourage many women to tell their incredible stories and showcase their work beautiful thing they do within agribusiness. We need to show the world that we are food producers and caretakers of the environment too. And this action does that very well", highlights Geni.
