The tractor market in Brazil is one of the largest in the world. To give you an idea, last year alone, the market, together with harvesters, rose 19,4% from January to December, reaching 67,4 thousand units sold. In the country, tractor sales are driven by the growth of Brazilian agriculture in activities such as planting, harvesting and transportation.

As they are considered one of the essential tools for agriculture, equipment also needs special care and periodic maintenance to help prevent damage, reduce costs and increase productivity. According to Rodrigo Marques, After-Sales Manager at Yanmar South America - a Japanese multinational manufacturer of equipment for various sectors of the Brazilian industry, including agriculture -, machine maintenance, which is among the main and most basic aspects of care, It is essential to keep the tractor in good working order and prevent damage.

“Maintenance can be divided into two types: preventive and corrective. Preventive is carried out to identify and correct problems before they cause damage. Corrective damage is carried out to repair existing damage. The frequency of preventive care, in particular, must be determined by the manufacturer, but is generally recommended every 200 or 300 working hours”, he points out.

Check out all the tips to increase the useful life of your tractor:

• Perform preventive maintenance regularly: Preventive maintenance is the key to keeping your tractor in good working condition. To do this, it is necessary to consult the period determined by the manufacturer. It is also important that the levels of engine and transmission oil, brake and cooling fluids are checked daily, before using the tractor. Make sure there are no leaks.

• Use original parts: They are designed according to tractor specifications to ensure maximum performance and durability. The use of generic parts can cause damage to the tractor and reduce its useful life.

• Inflate your tires frequently: Just like in automotive vehicles, correctly calibrated tires guarantee better tractor performance and also reduce wear, preventing deformation and preserving the useful life of the rubber. And the recommendation is that it be done at least once a week.

• Do not overload the tractor: Each tractor has a maximum load capacity. Overloading the tractor can also cause component damage and/or premature wear, and even accidents. Therefore, always check the maximum capacity. Safety is another priority when operating any tractor, and following the manufacturer's guidelines is essential to avoid damage and ensure the safety of the operator and others.

• Store the tractor properly: When storing your tractor, it is important to clean it thoroughly. Remove dirt, especially oil and grease that may accumulate during use.
