LS Tractor, one of the leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery in Brazil, is entering a new phase under the leadership of South Korean Carlos Kim, who took over as the company's president in the second half of 2024. With over two decades of experience in the agricultural sector, Kim brings with him in-depth technical knowledge and a strategic vision focused on innovation and customer support. In an exclusive interview during the Show Rural, in Cascavel, he detailed the company's plans for the future and highlighted the technological advances that are being implemented in LS tractors.

Autonomous tractors: the future of agriculture

One of the main topics of the interview was the development of autonomous tractors, a technology that is already being commercialized in Korea and that should gain ground in the Brazilian market in the coming years. “Last year, we sold 200 autonomous tractors in Korea, and our customers already trust our brand and our products,” said Kim. The investment in this technology reflects the global trend towards automation in the field, which promises to increase efficiency and reduce costs for farmers.

Robust and reliable transmission: an LS difference

Another point highlighted by the new president was the quality of the transmission used in LS tractors, known for its robustness and durability. “The transmission is one of the most important parts of the tractor, as it is part of the powertrain, consisting of the engine and the transmission,” explained Kim. He emphasized that LS uses synchronized gears, which allow for smoother and more efficient gear changes, in addition to high-quality materials that ensure longevity and reliability.

This technology is present in the new J25H tractor, launched during the Show Rural. The model has an HST (Hydrostatic Transmission) transmission, which simplifies operation and increases operator comfort. “It’s like driving an automatic car: you just need to accelerate to increase speed and reduce speed to slow down,” compared Kim. The innovation is especially relevant for the Brazilian market, where the demand for efficient and easy-to-operate machines has been growing continuously.

Trajectory and strategic vision

Carlos Kim is no stranger to the agricultural industry. At 50, he has 23 years of experience, including stints in the United States, where he worked as a parts and service manager, CFO and sales support manager for a tractor manufacturer. “My experience with parts and services is essential to ensuring the quality of customer support,” he said. After returning to Korea, he joined LS Tractor, where he worked in several areas, including planning and management at the headquarters, before becoming president of the Brazilian operation.

His professional career reflects a deep understanding of farmers’ needs and the importance of efficient technical support. “I have experienced this reality and I know how crucial parts and service management is for success in agribusiness,” Kim said. This vision should guide his management at the helm of LS in Brazil, with a focus on strengthening the technical assistance network and ensuring the availability of spare parts.
