Paddy rice prices are falling, as shown by data from Cepea. The ESALQ/SENAR-RS Indicator, 58% whole grains (weighted average and cash payment), fell 1,74% between May 11 and 18, ending at R$ 83,12/sc of 50 kg on Tuesday, 18.

According to data from Conab, the production of paddy rice in the 2020/21 harvest is estimated at 11,62 million tons, exceeding the volume of the previous season by 3,9%. This scenario is due to the increase in supply from Rio Grande do Sul, the largest Brazilian producer, which should total 8,2 million tons, an increase of 4,3%.

As for demand, buyers continue to purchase only volumes to replenish stocks.
