Wheat prices rose again in many regions monitored by Cepea, mainly in the lot market (negotiation between companies), but they still remain weakened in others. According to Cepea employees, the upward movement is supported by low domestic supply and the appreciation of the dollar against the Real. The falls are influenced by attempts by some sellers to liquidate remaining stocks from last season (at lower prices).
Thus, between July 10 and 17, wheat prices on the over-the-counter market (amount paid to the producer) fell 0,38% in Santa Catarina and 0,06% in Paraná, but rose 1,18% in Rio Grande do Sul In the lots market, the increases were 1,92% in Santa Catarina, 0,23% in São Paulo and 0,11% in Rio Grande do Sul; In Paraná, values fell 0,1%. As for the dollar, it appreciated 1,2% in the same period, closing at R$5,39 on Friday, July 17th.
