The advance of American crops is reducing soybean prices, while quality losses are supporting other grains.
Wheat sowing in Brazil is practically complete, reaching 99,9% of the planned area, while the harvest of the second corn crop has advanced to 69,1% of the cultivated area, according to the Weekly Monitoring of Crop Conditions, released by the National Supply Company (Conab).
In Rio Grande do Sul, well-distributed rainfall favored the completion of wheat sowing and the initial development of crops. Areas planted earlier in the west have already begun flowering and show good physiological and sanitary conditions, with no reports of pests. In Paraná, 97% of crops were classified as good and 3% as fair. In Santa Catarina, the vegetative phase predominates, while in São Paulo, most areas are in the grain-filling stage.
In Mato Grosso do Sul, phytosanitary monitoring remains intensified, with attention focused on blast and Fusarium head blight. In Minas Gerais, the harvest of rainfed wheat is practically complete in the Northwest, but yields remain below expectations and quality varies between regions. In Goiás, approximately 55% of the area has already been harvested.
In the second corn crop, Mato Grosso is nearing the end of the harvest, maintaining good yields. Paraná continues to advance with the support of dry weather, while in Goiás, the reduction in grain moisture has also favored fieldwork. In São Paulo, progress remains slower due to the prolonged crop cycle and high grain moisture.
In Minas Gerais, low productivity is being confirmed in rainfed areas. In Mato Grosso do Sul, rains temporarily interrupted harvesting in the Southwest region, but work continued in other regions. In Tocantins, Bahia, Maranhão, Piauí, and Pará, harvesting is in its final stages, although some late-planted areas are showing reduced productivity due to the early interruption of the rains.
Cotton harvesting has reached 28,4% of the national area. In Mato Grosso, work is progressing on the first crop, while the second is still in its initial harvesting stage, with the cotton boll weevil kept under control. In Goiás, fiber removal has reached half of the area in the main producing regions, with yields within expectations. In Minas Gerais, productivity has exceeded initial estimates, especially in irrigated areas.
In the bean crop, the second cowpea harvest in western Bahia has reached almost 73% of the area, with good grain quality. Meanwhile, in the third crop, Minas Gerais is seeing progress with good quality and yield, favored by lower whitefly pressure. In Goiás, just over half the area has been harvested, while in Bahia, the drought is keeping crops under water stress and reducing the productive potential of the first harvested areas.
