The estimated wheat cultivation for the 2022 harvest in Rio Grande do Sul is 1.413.763 hectares. The crop continues to develop excellently, benefiting from the large number of hours with sunshine and the occurrence of low-volume rainfall. These factors reduced excess moisture on the surface of the leaves and contributed to mitigating the proliferation of foliar diseases, keeping the crop in good health.
According to the Economic Information produced and released this Thursday (15/09) by Emater/RS-Ascar, crops present 44% of the area in vegetative phases, and 56% are in the reproductive phases of flowering and graining.
With the evolution to the reproductive stages, the visual aspect is of greater uniformity in the size of the crops, which have a high density of ears, providing a high productive potential. When entering this phase of defining productivity, plant protection measures are intensified, aiming to prevent foliar and ear diseases, especially rust and Fusarium head blight. Estimated productivity remains at 2.822 kg/ha.
winter crops
Canola
The estimate for canola cultivation in the State for the 2022 harvest is 48.457 hectares. Estimated productivity remains at 1.885 kg/ha.
In the Santa Rosa region, 25% of crops are in the flowering phase, 54% are in the silique formation and grain filling phase, 16% are in maturation and 5% has been harvested. A 3% reduction is estimated in relation to the initial productivity expectation of 1.731 kg/ha due to the frosts that occurred at the end of August and the hail, which affected some crops. The appearance of the remaining crops is good, with health and no significant incidence of pests and diseases.
During the week, the strategy of suspending the application of insecticides on crops with the presence of bees continued. According to the technical area of the largest company purchasing canola grains in the region, crops carried out under this condition in the previous harvest showed an increase of up to 15% in productivity, attributed to better pollination.
Barley
The estimate for barley cultivation in the State for the 2022 harvest is 36.727 hectares. Estimated productivity remains at 2.958 kg/ha.
White oat grains - The estimated cultivation of white oats in the State for the 2022 harvest is 392.507 hectares. Estimated productivity remains at 2.217 kg/ha.
Summer crops
Corn
Sowing reached 35% of the area projected for this harvest, which was favored by drier weather and adequate moisture levels in the soil. The operation was carried out with low soil disturbance in the planting furrow and with excellent seed deposition and coverage, allowing greater uniformity in the establishment of crops. However, crops still have slower germination and vegetative development stages due to low temperatures and the formation of specific frosts.
In the phytosanitary aspect, monitoring and control of leafhoppers (Dalbulus maidis) were carried out to avoid direct damage by this insect pest and the spread of the stunt disease, which causes major damage and losses in production.
The estimated cultivation area for the 2022/2023 harvest is 831.786 hectares. The expected productivity is 7.337 kg/ha.
Corn silage
The estimated area of corn destined for silage for the 2022/2023 harvest, in Rio Grande do Sul, is 365.467 hectares. The estimated productivity is 37.857 kg/ha, and the projected production is 13.835.615 tons.
Other cultures
Sunflower
In the Santa Rosa region, the preparation of areas for planting the new 2022/2023 sunflower crop is underway, and in São Luiz Gonzaga, Giruá and Entre-Ijuís the first crops have already been planted, which are germinating and with good plant population. The initial average productivity expectation for this harvest is 2.000 kg/ha. The price shows a reduction compared to the previous week, and is R$ 168,00/sc. of 60 kilos.
