In the midst of an atypical period for the global wheat market, understanding the sector's behavior is essential to drawing up new plans and overcoming future challenges. With this in mind, the Brazilian Wheat Industry Association (Abitrigo) will begin the program for the 31st International Wheat Industry Congress with analyses by political scientist Gustavo Segré and economist Sergio Vale. The event, scheduled for October 23, 24 and 25, will take place in Foz do Iguaçu (PR), at the Bourbon Cataratas Hotel.

As highlighted by Abitrigo's CEO, Rubens Barbosa, (in the photo), the choice of professionals reflects the current scenario in the sector, which requires an increasingly clear and grounded dialogue in the search for solutions that benefit the production chain.

“Up until now, 2024 has been marked by many uncertainties and new challenges are expected to emerge in the future of the sector. Therefore, bringing together representatives, experts and leading professionals from the entire grain chain is an objective way of understanding market trends and projections, helping the industry for the coming year”, explains Barbosa.

Gustavo Segré, who holds a degree in Business Administration and Accounting, works as a political and economic commentator for Jovem Pan. Sergio Vale has a master's degree in economics and a PhD in International Relations, and also works as a commentator for CNN Brasil. Together, the professionals will be responsible for the inaugural lecture: “Economy and Geopolitics in Brazil and the World”.

“Bringing these two experts together for the inaugural lecture reiterates our commitment to quality information, enabling our participants to have an overview of what is happening inside and outside the country, thus enabling them to identify bottlenecks and opportunities,” emphasizes the president of Abitrigo.

Targeted programming

With an agenda focused on topics relevant to the wheat sector, the first panel of the event, “The Wheat Market”, will feature the participation of the Commodities specialist from Cooperativa Agrária, Roberto Sandoli Jr., who will talk about the national market and the Trader from IPSOY SA, from Uruguay, Eduardo Vazques, who will present an overview of the international scenario.

According to Sandoli, being able to talk about what Brazil can expect from the current harvest is a great opportunity, since the event is “the largest wheat meeting in the country”. “This is the best place to be and put into practice the networking that the scenario demands, identifying in practice the development of the Brazilian market and how we will end this cycle”, he points out.

The event will also feature the panels “Technologies and the Future of Wheat in Food”, “Wheat and the Media” and “Sales Channels for Wheat Derivatives”, as well as workshops and a Business Fair, with presentations and offers of products, machines, equipment and cutting-edge technologies.

“As is tradition, our event goes beyond sharing information, knowledge and discussing the future of the wheat chain, it provides an environment of opportunities for us to establish new connections in favor of the development of the cereal in the country”, concludes the executive president of Abitrigo.
