A challenging year for the Brazilian wheat supply chain, 2025 has been marked by exchange rate volatility, climate uncertainty, and logistical and storage challenges, requiring increased attention from the industry. To discuss this scenario and identify future paths for the sector, the Brazilian Wheat Industry Association (Abitrigo) is holding the 20nd International Wheat Industry Congress from October 22th to 32nd. The event will be held at the Windsor Barra Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, bringing together representatives from across the national and international supply chain.
"Once again, we will have a conference that goes beyond market analysis. Our aim is to promote strategic reflections on the sector's competitiveness, technological advances, new consumer demands, and the positioning of wheat in society. These times require updating, dialogue, and collaboration among all links in the chain," says Rubens Barbosa, CEO of Abitrigo.
The program begins with an analysis of the current economic and geopolitical scenario, in the opening lecture that will feature the participation of political scientist and journalist, Gustavo Segré and economist and partner at Gibraltar Consulting, Zeina Latif.
The second will feature a discussion on the impacts of tax reform on the wheat sector, followed by the panel "The Competitiveness of the Wheat Business," which will discuss the bottlenecks and opportunities facing the supply chain amid the current economic and production context. The event's second panel, whose central theme is "From Data to Value: AI and Automation Innovating the Wheat Industry," will focus on the application of technologies and artificial intelligence to the modernization of industrial processes.
The conference continues on the 22nd with the panel "Wheat Flour in the New Consumer Market," which will offer reflections on changes in consumption profiles, new food demands, and product repositioning in light of these trends. Closing the program, the panel "The Wheat Market" will present an updated overview of wheat production and trade in Brazil and abroad, highlighting global projections and trends.
In addition to the debates and lectures, the event will feature a Business Fair, bringing together companies specializing in machinery, equipment, technologies, and solutions for the wheat industry. The Congress brings together, in a single space for discussion and networking, producers, mills, derivatives industries, representatives from retail, bakery, agribusiness entities, government, and international delegations from countries such as Argentina, Paraguay, the United States, Canada, China, Turkey, and the European Union.
Registration and information are available on the event’s official website (www.congressoabitrigo.com.br).
