Vigifronteira operation seizes more than 480 tons of irregular products in Paraná

The inspection action took place jointly between Mapa, PRF and other federal and state agencies

Garlic, onions, drinks, pesticides, cattle, products of animal origin and other agricultural inputs were targets of the 37th Operation Round Agro of the Agricultural Defense Surveillance Program for International Borders (Vigifronteira). More than 480 tons of irregular products were seized in the state of Paraná.

The inspection action aimed at combating the irregular transit of agricultural products took place jointly between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and other federal and state agencies.

Among the products seized were 476 tons of garlic and onions, two tons of animal feed products, three tons of animal products and 1.500 liters of drinks.

Four infraction notices were issued, six terms of seizure and five terms between condemnation, destruction, interdiction and return to origin, which resulted in losses to the offenders of approximately R$1,8 million. An arrest was also made by the Federal Police for illegal activity.

The 37th Operation Ronda Agro took place jointly as a result of the XX OTEFIS (Operation to Combat Crimes against Tax Authorities and Public Health) promoted by the PRF and was carried out in the municipalities of Planalto, Guarapuava, Capanema, Realeza and Astorga. OTEFIS aims to combat counterfeiting, smuggling and embezzlement crimes, and cross-border crimes in general, encouraging cooperative action between invited bodies.

In addition to Mapa, the PRF, PF, RFB, ADAPAR, VISA Planalto, SIM Planalto and the State Revenue of Paraná participated in the action.
