A state judge in Arkansas, United States, ordered the CEO of Bayer AG, Werner Baumann, to testify in a case involving a claim for compensation due to an alleged relationship between the use of glyphosate and the development of cancer. From what could be ascertained, it is the first time that this type of testimony was determined. The decision was made by the judge Robert B. Gibson III, who worked on causes related to agriculture while advocating.

Bayer faces several lawsuits, in more than one country, related to the acquisition of Monsanto.

When contacted, Bayer informed that:

"We respectfully disagree with the judge's order denying our request for protection and requiring the company's CEO to testify and will evaluate our legal options for further consideration of this matter. Several company employees with relevant knowledge of scientific and regulatory issues have already testified in the national Roundup litigation. Mr. Baumann is not an expert on science, government regulation, or the U.S. legal system and has no unique expertise relevant to this case."

The case is Kilgore v. Monsanto (22CV-21-138), which is pending in Drew County court.
