Traveling campaign collects more than a thousand empty pesticide containers in cities in Tocantins

Small and medium-sized rural producers from the municipalities of Palmas and Miracema, in Tocantins (TO), were benefited by actions of the Itinerant Reception Project (RI) of empty agricultural pesticide packaging. In the two editions, 1.309 pesticide packaging and 300 kilos of secondary packaging were returned, directly benefiting 27 producers.

The plant inspection manager at the Agricultural Defense Agency (Adapec), Carlos Cesar Barbosa, highlighted that the Agency took the opportunity to carry out, before the action, an awareness campaign among rural producers about the importance of returning packaging. “Our goal is to raise awareness among producers about removing this liability from the field, which is why we are joining forces in this partnership with the Central Agencies and other agencies involved in this project,” he highlighted.

Rural producer João Carneiro was present at the event and assessed the initiative as positive. “It is always very difficult to return this material, especially to small producers. This opportunity is of great value, because even if someone has purchased a container of pesticide, it is important that they follow the correct procedure and return it,” he stated. 

The two editions of RI were in partnership with the State Government, through Adapec, with the Silvanópolis Center run by the Association of Resellers of Agricultural Inputs of Porto Nacional (Areia) and the Pedro Afonso Center, managed by the Association of Resellers of Agricultural Inputs of the Middle North of Tocantins (Atria).
