RS 2024/25 Harvest: soybeans see a 38% drop in productivity
Corn harvest advances, but weather remains an obstacle; producers seek securitization in the face of losses
The Government of Tocantins, through the Agricultural Defense Agency (Adapec), authorized through Normative Instruction (IN) No. 04 of May 29, 2024, the extension until June 6, of the soybean seed planting window in the tropical floodplains of Tocantins, which would end this Saturday, 31st.
The extension meets a request made by the Association of Rural Producers of Southwest Tocantins (Aproest) and the Rio Formoso Irrigation District, which requested the extension of the planting window for the harvest during the exceptional sanitary vacuum of soybeans, since there are producers experiencing difficulties in planting, due to high soil humidity.
According to the technical manager of the State Program for Controlling Asian Rust, Cleovan Barbosa, the Agency responded to the entities' request after noting that the soil was still very wet, and that the six-day extension of the deadline will not compromise the Asian rust control and monitoring schedule carried out by Adapec, in that region maintaining the final deadline for harvesting on September 20.
The tropical floodplain region is formed by the municipalities of Cristalândia, Lagoa da Confusao, Pium, Dueré, Formoso do Araguaia and Santa Rita do Tocantins.
