Much of Brazil's agricultural production is transported by highways. According to IBGE data (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), the country had a record harvest in 2020 with 254 million tons, with 92,7% of this amount concentrated in rice, corn and soybean crops.

A survey conducted by ESALQ-LOG – Research and Extension Group in Agroindustrial Logistics/USP – and the USDA – United States Department of Agriculture – pointed out that, in 2019, 69% of corn production and 67% of soybean production was transported by highways, which shows the importance of the cargo transport and logistics sector in Brazil.

However, it is not cheap to maintain a transport logistics operation, especially when it comes to fleet maintenance. Life on the “stretch” demands a series of precautions from transport companies and drivers that aim to minimize risks on the road and reduce fleet costs.

To mitigate these demands, it is extremely important that transport companies look for solutions that generate savings. One of the most delicate points in this equation is fleet tire management.

With new market technologies, it is possible to combine usage management with control of tire changes, enhancing useful life and seeking more cost-effective solutions for the company and professionals. It was exactly this demand that led two companies specializing in the transport sector to join forces.

Marangoni has been operating for over 50 years, worldwide, in the development and dissemination of technologies, materials and services linked to tire reconstruction. At the end of the 1990s, the multinational established itself in the city of Lagoa Santa, Minas Gerais, its Brazilian factory currently has around 10% of the Brazilian tire reconstruction market.

“Here at Marangoni we use our own technology for tire reconstruction that is considered top worldwide, called Ringtread System. This guarantees the quality of our products and the necessary safety for the warriors on the stretch”, says Fabiano Santos, Technical Assistance and Product Manager at Marangoni.

As the company has always had development and innovation as its premises, Marangoni found Gestran, a transport software developer, the ideal partnership to develop a tire management system based on a lot of technology: the Control Tire.

Gestran has more than 20 years in the market developing tools that can automate and accelerate the daily processes of cargo transportation companies and those that have fleets, from a complete ERP for carriers and various software that allow fuel management, maintenance and , of course, tires.

With Control Tire, it is possible to monitor the “health” of the fleet’s tires in real time, from dashboards easy and intuitive access. Data such as camber, wear, duration and replacement time are notified and, as a result, the useful life of the equipment is extended, obviously generating greater savings.

This also means that Marangoni customers can plan ahead for future exchanges and negotiate prices and demands with the company. According to Fabiano Santos, what makes the Control Tire attractive and viable is precisely the ease and simplicity of use.

“We entered into this partnership with Gestran because, in addition to their years of experience in the market, the way they always listen to our demands, adjust the system and train the team is fantastic”, highlights the manager.
