As part of a connectivity expansion project for Brazilian agribusiness, TIM announces its first project “4G TIM no Campo” for the state of Minas Gerais, in partnership with Usina Santa Vitória Açúcar e Álcool (SVAA). Located in Pontal do Triângulo Mineiro, between the city of Santa Vitória and the district of Perdilândia, the company is a reference in the sugar and alcohol sector in the country, with a production capacity of up to 240 million liters of hydrated ethanol per harvest. The partnership with TIM foresees bringing 4G coverage to the complex's 160 properties and neighboring communities, serving more than 37 thousand hectares of sugar cane production, benefiting the local community of approximately 20 thousand inhabitants and around 1.500 direct employees.

After being acquired by the Geribá Investimentos Group in September 2020, Usina Santa Vitória carried out an ambitious investment project, expanded its hydrous ethanol storage capacity by 80 million liters, carried out industrial improvement projects and implemented a set of technological packages that involved new control and management systems, on-board computers, mobility and connectivity. Its technological transformation had as its starting point the need to digitize and integrate data from the field with the plant in real time, resulting in improved management quality and the transformation of the plant into a large and modern sugar-energy complex.

Therefore, the implementation of the “4G TIM no Campo” project was fundamental to the Digital Transformation process. “We believe in the importance of technological advancement in the field and its ability to incorporate connectivity where it is needed. We were able to eliminate manual notes, monitor 100% of our operational CTT fleet online, increase operational efficiency and agility in the decision-making process. Connectivity was essential to considerably improve operation management, reducing the time needed to identify operational failures and make the necessary adjustments quickly and assertively. We increasingly want to become the most modern alcohol-chemical complex in Brazil, and the partnership with TIM has been fundamental to achieving this goal”, explains SVAA Director, Vinicius Zabisky.

For Paulo Humberto Cerchi Gouvea, Director of Corporate Solutions at TIM Brasil, expanding connectivity in agribusiness is essential to expand not only the benefits to the company but also to the surrounding communities: “We have a project that prioritizes the modernization of Brazilian agribusiness and inclusion of the rural population. The 4G TIM no Campo solution has existed for more than 4 years and, since then, we have connected more than seven million hectares with 4G and more than fifteen million hectares with Narrow Band IoT (NB-IoT) technology. We are happy to count on Usina Santa Vitória to write another chapter in our history of connectivity in the countryside.”

Present in more than 4.500 cities with 4G technology at 700MHz, TIM is the leader in 4G coverage in Brazil and has a public commitment to bring this service to all 5.570 Brazilian municipalities by 2023. Projects related to connectivity in the countryside also count on NB-IoT technology, a functionality that allows you to expand traditional coverage by up to 40%, with low battery consumption, essential for Internet of Things applications. A pioneer in offering solutions to corporate clients, TIM is a leader in NB-IoT coverage, with more than 4.100 cities.
