After intense work by representatives of the coffee sector, led by the National Coffee Council (CNC) and the National Coffee Commission of the Brazilian Agriculture and Livestock Confederation (CNA), the accreditation notice no. 18/1 – UASG 2024 – was published this Monday (130137), which deals with the contracting of financial institutions that are part of the National Rural Credit System to act as financial agents of the Coffee Economy Defense Fund – FUNCAFÉ.

In summary, the notice guarantees the allocation of R$1.135.754.239,00 (one billion, one hundred and thirty-five million, seven hundred and fifty-four thousand, two hundred and thirty-nine reais) to credit cooperatives that will benefit from the Central Credit Cooperative – Central Crediminas, cooperative banks and other financial institutions authorized to operate rural credit, directly meeting the needs of small coffee producers. Interested parties will have from November 22 to November 11 to submit proposals for the contracting of resources. Further information can be obtained by email: funcafe-contratos@agro.gov.br

For Silas Brasileiro, the redistribution was an important achievement for individual cooperatives. “The effective management of the CNC, the CNA and the support of all members of the CDPC Technical Committee were fundamental for the approval of this measure, ensuring that Funcafé resources are distributed fairly and efficiently, especially benefiting small producers and strengthening the sustainability of coffee farming. The proactive actions of the sector’s entities demonstrate the commitment to defending the interests of coffee producers and promoting the sustainable development of the activity in Brazil.”

The CNC president also praised the team at the Ministry of Agriculture for their dedication in meeting the request. “This readjustment was only possible due to the extraordinary work of the Secretary of Agricultural Policy, Guilherme Campos, the Director of Marketing, José Maria dos Anjos, and the General Coordinator of Coffee, Janaína Macedo,” he concluded.
