The Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, defended the resumption of President Lula's government policy of encouraging biodiesel. Since the first meeting of the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE), in February, it was defined to increase the percentage of biodiesel to diesel in the B13 and B15 blends, progressively.
“There is no way for us to continue discussing the world's pollution, there is no way for us to discuss carbon capture any longer, but to continue consuming fossil products, fossil fuels. It is inconceivable, in Brazil, to want to do the math and compare the measly R$0,01 that a liter of biodiesel costs when mixed at the pump per liter, to the detriment of having to consume S-500 diesel, highly polluting, highly loaded with sulfur, in a moment when the world is talking about decarbonization”, highlighted the minister during the opening of the IV Biodiesel Week, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), this Thursday (10).
In addition to sustainability issues related to biofuels, the production of biodiesel, made with national raw materials, generates jobs, opportunities in family farming and agro-industrialization, and also guarantees more stability in the soybean market and, consequently, animal proteins.
According to the president of the Sector Chamber of the Oilseed and Biodiesel Production Chain of Mapa, Donizete Tokarski, stated that biodiesel adds value to the national industry and regional development, as it already has 59 industries in 15 states in all Brazilian regions. .
President of the Mixed Biodiesel Parliamentary Front (FPBio), federal deputy Alceu Moreira highlighted the work with biodiesel, stating that Brazil is a great producer and that it is a factor of social redemption. “A permanent system with absolute production and consumption reliability because the purchasing machine is the producers”, he concluded.
Renewable fuel is a fundamental tool for advancing the planet's sustainability, highlighted the president of the Ubrabio Superior Council, Juan Diego. “A lot is heard about the resumption of economic and social effects, which is important and, mainly, in environmental, social and economic sustainability, three significant aspects. Furthermore, it takes advantage of natural riches, sun, rain and arable land," he said.
