Use of biologicals reaches 36% of cultivated areas in 2024 and continues to grow in Brazil
Data was presented during the biological inputs event BioSummit 2024, which ends this Wednesday (29) in Campinas (SP)
The organic market has grown and gained more and more space among the country's new generation of agricultural producers. The statement was made this Wednesday (29) by Eric Emiliano, director of LEK Consulting, who participated in the panel “Opportunity in the Industry and Distribution of Bioinputs”, within the BioSummit 2024 program, which ended today in Campinas (SP). The event received around 750 visitors over two days, a number 25% higher than expected by FB Group, organizer of the BioSummit.
According to a survey by LEK Consulting released during the event, 78% of respondents said they already use organic products on their properties. The age group that most concentrates producers who adopt bioinputs is 36 to 55 years old. “Brazilian farmers have the lowest average age in the world, and this factor greatly favors the adoption of new technologies such as biologicals. Furthermore, we can highlight two factors for the growth of this market: the work that these companies did to launch products, and to generate this demand with farmers and develop this market”, he highlights.
Emiliano notes that Brazil has been working with regenerative agriculture for some time and is at the forefront of this segment in the world. The director also highlights that the public and private sectors, mainly through universities and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa), are closely connected for this market to be in evidence.
The BioSummit brought together an audience from five countries and 16 Brazilian states for two days, including 750 participants, 33 exhibiting and sponsoring companies, and 55 speakers. One of the event organizers, agronomist and professor at UFSM (Federal University of Santa Maria), Jerson Guedes, highlights that both the public and companies also had their expectations exceeded. “I spoke to exhibitors and participants who were very impressed with the topics brought up for debate”, he comments.
For CEO of FB Group, Daiana Bisognin Lopes, the numbers from BioSummit 2024 prove that this is a sector that is booming. She confirms that the event will be annual, and intends to soon reveal where and how much it will be held in 2025. “We had high-level presentations and discussions, and many of them will dictate the path that the world of bioinputs will follow from now on”, she states. she.
Country singer Zé Neto, who is a duo with Cristiano, visited BioSummit this Wednesday, as he now has a stake in the company Biotil, exhibitor at the event. The artist says that he decided to invest in the sector after using the company's product on one of his properties in the interior of São Paulo and proving its effectiveness. “As a country person, I’m still connected to agriculture, so I thought this would be a good investment,” he concludes.
