Aparecida de Minas, district of Frutal, in the Triângulo Mineiro region, will host the 10th Pineapple Agribusiness Fair, which will take place from September 19 to 22. The event, held by Sebrae Minas, Coopercisco and the City Hall of Frutal, is one of the main meetings in the sector, and promises to bring news to those involved in the pineapple production chain.
The region is the largest producer of the Pérola pineapple in the state. Nine million fruits are harvested annually, consolidating Minas Gerais' production as the third largest in the country. Sebrae Minas analyst Joana Rafaela highlights the importance of the Fair for regional development. "We support producers by offering knowledge through training, consulting and support in various areas. Sebrae believes that events like the Pineapple Fair are essential to foster economic growth, strengthen cooperation and generate fruitful business for producers," she says.
The official opening of the fair will be on September 19th, at 17pm, with the lecture “In the land of pineapple, cooperativism is the strategy”. Consultant Andréia Salerno will discuss how cooperativism has been an effective strategy for the growth and development of pineapple cultivation.
On Friday, a field day will be held with the theme “Seedling production by sectioning”. Participants will also be able to take part in a conversation with Empamig agronomist Daniel Angelucci Amorim, who will talk about the selection of pineapple cultivars resistant to fusariosis, a disease caused by fungi and considered the biggest pest of these crops.
The Fair will also feature a lecture entitled “Pineapple Production in Central America,” given by axillary nutrition specialist Orlando Marcos. There will also be a time dedicated to business prospecting, as well as shows and cultural attractions throughout the event.
