The Tax Reform enters a transition phase this year and raises concerns about potential impacts on agribusiness, a sector responsible for 29,4% of Brazil's GDP, according to studies by Cepea/Esalq-USP in partnership with CNA. In the sugarcane and energy chain, the topic will be addressed in the panel "Impacts of Tax Reform for Sugarcane Producers," which is part of the Cana Summit 2026. The event will be held on April 15th and 16th in Ribeirão Preto (SP).

The debate on the impacts of the Reform brings together complementary perspectives at the meeting, with the participation of Analelia Galhardo, tax partner at PwC Brazil; Marcos Ribeiro, partner at Simões Pires; and Renato Conchon, coordinator of the Economic Center of the CNA, moderated by Henrique Domingues Montanare, partner and director of Senior Business Solutions.

The review of mechanisms such as exemptions, rate reductions, and presumed credits, currently used to mitigate the cumulative effect of taxes, is among the main points of attention. Changes in the taxation of inputs are also on the radar, with a potential direct effect on the costs of the activity.

According to José Guilherme Nogueira, CEO of Orplana, analyzing the topic requires a broader view of the activity. “The proposal is to look at the Tax Reform more comprehensively, considering not only production, but also the impact on inputs and the relationship with the industry. This view across the entire chain allows for a better understanding of how the changes may affect the sector,” he states.

With eight panels on the program and an expected attendance of around a thousand participants, the Cana Summit 2026 is one of the main forums for debate in the sugarcane and energy sector. This year's edition will be held for the first time in Ribeirão Preto, after two editions in Brasília, in a move that coincides with the celebrations for Orplana's 50th anniversary and reinforces the event's connection with the center of national production.
