Variable weather conditions make it difficult to plant wheat in Rio Grande do Sul
In some regions, frequent rains have delayed sowing; in others, high humidity has delayed the emergence and development of crops
The forecast for the next few days indicates cloudiness and mild temperatures for Rio Grande do Sul. This is what the Integrated Agrometeorological Bulletin 29/2024, from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi), in partnership with Emater /RS and the Rio Grandense do Arroz Institute (Irga).
This Friday (19/07), there is the formation of a trough at high levels, along with the approach of a cold front to the surface. This front will move towards the ocean, increasing cloudiness and enabling the formation of pre-frontal fogs. The greater cloudiness could open up space for the possibility of isolated rain in the range between the South, Campanha and Fronteira Oeste regions in the late afternoon. Temperatures will continue to rise gradually throughout the day.
On Saturday (20/07), the amplification of the trough at high levels followed by the development of a cyclonic vortex to the west of the Andes Mountains will maintain the same weather pattern as the previous day, with rising temperatures throughout the State and again the presence of cloudiness, mainly in the South, Campanha, Western Border, Central Region and part of the Metropolitan Region.
On Sunday (21/07), the atmospheric configuration at high levels will persist, maintaining cloudiness over the South, Campanha and Fronteira Oeste regions. On the surface, the displacement of the post-frontal migratory anticyclone, as it moves away from Rio Grande do Sul towards the ocean, together with the action of Low Level Jets, will promote an increase in temperatures and humidity until the end of the day.
The trend for the beginning of the week is for precipitation in the South and an increase in temperatures. On Monday (22/07), there will be a weakening of the trough at high levels followed by divergent flow. At low levels, the Low Level Jet will once again act over the State, bringing hot and humid air from the Amazon, which could lead to an increase in temperatures.
On Tuesday (23/07) this atmospheric pattern should be repeated. On Wednesday (24/07), the combination of factors at low, medium and high atmospheric levels will contribute to the formation of instabilities in the south of the state, allowing rain of low intensity in the region.
The forecasts do not indicate rain for the state for the next seven days, with the exception of isolated areas in the South.
