The forecast for the next few days indicates changes in the weather over Rio Grande do Sul with the possibility of isolated storms, again. This is what is indicated in the Integrated Agrometeorological Bulletin 3/2025, from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi), in partnership with Emater/RS and the Rio Grande do Sul Rice Institute (Irga).
Friday (17 / 1) e Saturday (18/1): a trough (elongated area of low pressure) between Argentina and Rio Grande do Sul intensified throughout Thursday (16/1), generating a cold front associated with an extratropical cyclone that will reinforce the conditions for the occurrence of precipitation ranging from light to moderate intensity in most regions of the state. During this period, the weather instability should be greater with increased cloudiness over the state and rising temperatures throughout the respective days.
Sunday (19 / 1): the cold front will move over the state, causing moderate to heavy rainfall over the regions of Campanha, Serra Gaúcha and Campos de Cima da Serra. While in the other regions, light to moderate rainfall is expected. For this reason, temperatures will drop from dusk onwards.
Monday (20 / 1): with the strengthening of the extratropical cyclone over the ocean, part of the cold front will still cause rain over the state, such as in the regions of Campos de Cima da Serra, Planalto and along the coastal strip between the Metropolitan and South regions, with intensity varying from moderate to strong, while in the Planalto, North and Metropolitan regions the tendency will be of weak intensity. Temperatures should be milder throughout the day.
Tuesday (21 / 1) e Wednesday (22/1): after the passage of the cold front, stability in the weather should return as the migratory anticyclone enters Rio Grande do Sul with milder temperatures being observed followed by rising temperatures on the respective days.
The forecast for next week points to the possibility of significant rainfall in several regions of the state. In areas close to the coast and in parts of the center, rainfall volumes may vary between 20 mm and 100 mm. In the Metropolitan Region, Vale do Taquari and Serra, accumulated rainfall may exceed 100 mm. In the regions of the Western Border, Campanha and Missões, rainfall volumes between 5 mm and 50 mm are expected at specific points. In the extreme north and extreme south of the state, rainfall should vary from 10 mm to up to 100 mm in some locations.
