The deadline for registering soybean cultivation areas for the 2024/2025 harvest has already started in Rondônia. Rural producers who work in soybean farming have until January 30 to register in the online system of the Rondônia Agrosilvopastoral Health Defense Agency (Idaron). “This registration is mandatory and, exceptionally, must be done between October 30 and January 30 of next year,” highlights Idaron's inspection and plant protection manager, Jessé de Oliveira Júnior.

It is worth noting that crop registration does not interfere with the start of soybean sowing, that is, even if crop registration only begins at the end of October, soybean sowing can be carried out normally. Jessé Oliveira explains that the planting period is in accordance with ordinance 1.111, of May 13, 2024, of the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa), which establishes the periods of sanitary gap and the soybean sowing calendar at the national level, referring to the 2024/2025 harvest. In Rondônia, it began on September 11, 2024 and will run until January 09, 2025.

Regarding the registration of planting areas, Idaron reports that a new computerized system has been developed to improve service to rural producers. “As is customary, the registration of planting areas can be done online,” emphasizes the president of Idaron Agency, Julio Cesar Rocha Peres.

Julio Peres explains that the registration period is the result of a broad conversation with the production sector and meets the recommendations of the national program for controlling Asian soybean rust, established within the scope of Mapa, which establishes the phytosanitary measures that must be adopted by each region of Brazil for the prevention and control of Asian soybean rust.

“Respecting the sanitary gap is essential to contain Asian rust,” emphasizes Julio Peres. “Failure to respect the calendar may result in the undesirable occurrence of rust in the harvest, which could compromise the economy and productivity,” he stressed.

The start of the registration of soybean cultivation areas was highlighted by the state governor, Marcos Rocha. “Rural producers must be aware of the deadlines established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, since soybean cultivation has a major impact on Rondônia’s trade balance. The work developed by Idaron, guiding farmers on the best practices for combating Asian rust, including planting dates, has not only a phytosanitary aspect, but also an economic and social one,” emphasizes Marcos Rocha.
