Gross grain reception reached approximately 1 million tons; investments in the units totaled R$ 165 million.
The official opening of the 2025/2026 Apple Harvest will take place on February 7th in Vacaria (RS), one of the largest producing municipalities in the country. The event marks the beginning of the harvest, with expected production between 1,05 million and 1,15 million tons, a volume within the historical average and with good quality fruit.
In addition to the harvest volume, the climatic conditions recorded throughout the production cycle contributed decisively to the quality of the crop. The sector projects fruits with a size larger than the historical average, excellent color, greater juiciness, and a balance in the ratio between sugar and acidity, attributes that add commercial value and increase the competitiveness of Brazilian apples in the domestic and international markets.
The ceremony takes place in an orchard belonging to Rasip Agro and brings together producers, agribusiness leaders, authorities, and representative entities from the sector. The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Vacaria, with the participation of the Brazilian Association of Apple Producers (ABPM), which represents the main producers of the fruit in Brazil.
Beyond its productive impact, the apple supply chain plays a significant role in the economy and regional development. The sector generates approximately 50 direct jobs and another 80 indirect jobs throughout the country, especially in the producing regions of the South, and contributes decisively to supplying the domestic market.
In the international market, Brazilian apples continue to expand their presence. Export expectations for 2026 are approximately 60 tons, with shipments destined for markets such as India, Portugal, Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia, reflecting international recognition of the quality, food safety, and traceability of Brazilian products.
According to the president of ABPM, Francisco Schio, the opening of the harvest season symbolizes more than just the start of the harvest. “We are beginning a harvest season within normal production parameters, with balanced quality and volumes. The apple sector is highly technological, generates thousands of jobs, and continues to invest in innovation and sustainability, which strengthens Brazil as a competitive and reliable producer,” he emphasizes.
Following the ceremony, participants will conduct a technical visit to the Embrapa unit in Vacaria, expanding the dialogue between producers, researchers, and public managers regarding the challenges and opportunities of the apple supply chain.
