The Fendt 832 Vario achieved an average fuel consumption of 235 grams of diesel per kilowatt-hour in the DLG PowerMix field operation test. This result includes an additional 29 grams of AdBlue (known in Brazil as ARLA 32) per kilowatt-hour and represents the lowest rate recorded by the program among tractors with up to 350 horsepower. In transport at 60 kilometers per hour, the model consumed 331 grams of diesel per kilowatt-hour, plus 38,2 grams of AdBlue.

The German Agricultural Society, known by the acronym DLG, conducted the roller bench test. The procedure replicates agricultural and road operations with standardized loads. The methodology allows for comparison of performance, consumption, and productivity under repeatable conditions. The report was numbered DLG 7599 and adopted the PowerMix 2.0 protocol.

Field activities

In field operations, the tractor showed fuel consumption equivalent to 5,3 liters of diesel per hectare and 0,5 liters of AdBlue per hectare. The average operational capacity reached 11,8 hectares per hour. The document compares this result with machines in the 252-kilowatt range, with a tolerance of 20 kilowatts. In this group, previous specific consumptions ranged from 240 to 301 grams per kilowatt-hour.

The PowerMix combined different traction cycles, power take-off, and hydraulic drive. In heavy-duty traction work, the average consumption reached 245 grams of diesel per kilowatt-hour, with 29,6 grams of AdBlue.

Productivity reached 5,2 hectares per hour, with a consumption of 11,4 liters of diesel per hectare and 1,1 liters of AdBlue per hectare.

Medium traction work

In medium-duty traction operations, the index dropped to 241 grams per kilowatt-hour. Consumption per area totaled 6,9 liters per hectare, and operational capacity reached 6,4 hectares per hour. Heavy-duty power take-off operations registered 223 grams per kilowatt-hour. In medium-duty power take-off cycles, the value reached 225 grams per kilowatt-hour.

The lowest consumption among the individual cycles appeared in an operation with a rotary harrow and seeder. The index reached 218 grams of diesel per kilowatt-hour. Another cycle, intended for a pneumatic seeder, surface preparation, and cover crop management, recorded 219 grams per kilowatt-hour.

Analysis in transportation

When transporting at 40 kilometers per hour, the overall result was 329 grams of diesel and 38,1 grams of AdBlue per kilowatt-hour. The system consumed 3,8 liters for every 100 ton-kilometers (tkm) transported. The transport capacity reached 1.076 ton-kilometers per hour.

At 50 kilometers per hour, the specific fuel consumption totaled 330 grams of diesel per kilowatt-hour. AdBlue usage reached 38,7 grams per kilowatt-hour. The transport capacity increased to 1.220 ton-kilometers per hour.

At 60 kilometers per hour, the index recorded 331 grams of diesel per kilowatt-hour and 38,2 grams of AdBlue. Consumption per load and distance remained at 3,9 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers per ton. The capacity reached 1.374 ton-kilometers per hour. The test used a trailer weighing 30 kilograms.

AGCO Power CORE80

The Fendt 832 Vario received an AGCO Power CORE80 engine with six cylinders and a displacement of 7.926 cubic centimeters. The maximum power stated by the manufacturer reaches 252 kilowatts, equivalent to 343 horsepower. At the power take-off, DLG measured 232,9 kilowatts at 1.500 revolutions per minute.

The maximum measured torque reached 1.553 newton-meters at 1.300 revolutions per minute. At this point, the engine consumed 210 grams of diesel per kilowatt-hour and 26 grams of AdBlue. At maximum power take-off, consumption was 213 grams of diesel per kilowatt-hour.

The system utilizes a continuously variable transmission (VariaoDrive TA250). The speed ranges from 0,02 to 60 kilometers per hour. The Fendt iD concept operates at low engine speeds. The hydraulic system uses a closed-loop system with load sensing and a maximum flow rate of 165 liters per minute. An optional configuration increases the flow rate to 220 liters per minute.

The tank holds 540 liters of diesel and 65 liters of AdBlue. The after-treatment system includes selective catalytic reduction, a particulate filter, and an oxidation catalyst. The model meets Stage V emissions standards.

The tractor was also the subject of a test drive by the Cultivar Máquinas team. Read about it in "Exclusive test drive with the Fendt 832 Vario Gen5 tractor"
