A heat wave will hit, until next Wednesday (14), part of the North, Southeast and Central-West regions. The forecast is for maximum temperatures of around 40°C in areas of the states of Tocantins, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Goiás and throughout the Federal District.
High temperatures are caused by the formation of a mass of dry air associated with the lack of rain, a common scenario at this time of year in the central area of Brazil. Furthermore, according to experts, as the days without rain lengthen, the dry air mass intensifies. The arrival of spring, in the second half of September, also contributes to high temperatures.
From Thursday (15), there is a small possibility of rain in the locations most affected by the heat in the central area of the country, which will ease temperatures, despite remaining sultry.
Rain acts as a thermoregulator of the atmosphere, as clouds form a kind of heat barrier.
