Tecnovidro, a company from Rio Grande do Sul specializing in technical glass, has just completed the expansion of its factory in Farroupilha (RS), which will allow for a 30% increase in production capacity. The company finalized the installation of a new printer, a furnace for spherical glass, and two automated machining lines, which absorbed approximately R$ 20 million in investment over the last 18 months.

The new equipment was imported from Europe and China, bringing state-of-the-art technology in speed, precision, and finishing to glass manufacturing in Farroupilha. The expansion—which also represents an important step towards modernizing its machinery—boosts the company's production of double-curved glass, mainly used in machine cabins and agricultural implements. "Tecnovidro already supplies the main bus manufacturers in Brazil, with technology and scale, and with this expansion, it is positioning itself to seek leadership in the agricultural segment as well," explains Tecnovidro's CEO, Marco Aurélio De Bastiani.

The factory expansion comes at a time when the company is also expanding its international presence through certifications that attest to the quality and safety of its products for highly demanding markets. Recently, Tecnovidro renewed its DOT (Department of Transportation) certification, one of the main benchmarks for automotive glass destined for the North American market.

In addition to its North American certification, Tecnovidro holds the ECE 43R homologation, valid in the European Community and recognized in various international markets, as well as the Inmetro Ordinance 34/21, required in Brazil. This set of certifications positions Tecnovidro as the only Brazilian company in its sector with all the necessary homologations to serve clients and projects with high technical demands, both within and outside of Brazil.

Today, Tecnovidro already ships 15% of its production abroad (directly or indirectly, through finished products exported by its clients), with a focus on Latin America, Africa, Australia, and Central America. The goal is to increase this number to 20% by 2027, consolidating its leadership in buses and expanding sales to agribusiness. “The certifications guarantee that our glass meets the most rigorous vehicle safety standards in the world, allowing us to supply products to global automakers and reinforce our commitment to quality and the protection of lives,” says Bastiani.
