Brazilian papaya exports have been affected by the spread of the coronavirus around the world, as several consuming countries have suspended international flights and airports are paralyzing some activities - air travel represents more than 90% of papaya exports, due to the fragility of the fruit. Agents consulted by Hortifruti/Cepea report that there has already been a reduction in shipments and that this scenario could intensify in the coming weeks, causing the fruits to remain on the domestic market. It is worth remembering that, in January and February, exports were at full steam, favored by the large supply and good international demand, especially from Europe.
