Sumitomo Chemical is a partner of Brazilian cotton farmers and is participating this week in a campaign that highlights the strengthening of initiatives in favor of the crop in celebration of World Cotton Day, celebrated on October 7. The company joined the Abrapa campaign called “The Fiber of all generations” which features testimonials from people who have left their mark on the history of cotton farming. Among them are the company's customers, researchers and employees, as well as the president of Sumitomo Chemical Latin America, José Fabretti.

With over 100 years of history, the company is a research and development company with innovation in its DNA. “We support cotton farmers on several fronts, whether through innovative solutions, dissemination of technical information or through partnerships with institutions such as the Brazilian Cotton Producers Association (Abrapa) which, in addition to other initiatives, take Brazilian cotton to the world with the Sou de Algodão Movement,” says Leonardo Vieira (pictured), new manager of Insecticides Brazil and leader of cotton farming at Sumitomo Chemical.

Leonardo also emphasizes that the crop is extremely important to Sumitomo Chemical, as it represents a significant portion of the Brazilian agricultural market. “The cotton area is expected to increase in the 24/25 harvest, and this further highlights the importance of the crop for Sumitomo Chemical,” he explains. “On Cotton Day, we endorse the work and investment we make with organizations and movements, also offering solutions that promote increased productivity and fiber quality. For cotton alone, we offer a robust portfolio of around 40 products,” he concludes.
