Sumitomo Chemical will be participating in the 34th Brazilian Congress of Weed Science (CBCPD) with its main crop and pasture protection solutions. The largest event in the sector in the country, it takes place between August 3rd and 6th in Foz do Iguaçu (PR). The company will present its portfolio focused on the efficient and sustainable management of weeds for agriculture.
Among the main highlights of the event is Rapidicil, a new generation herbicide from Sumitomo Chemical for farmers seeking fast, safe, and flexible control of broadleaf and narrowleaf weeds, offering the fastest desiccation rate on the market. Belonging to the group of PPO (Protoporphyrinogen Oxidase) enzyme inhibitors, the new herbicide is aimed at soybean, corn, and cotton crops, positioning itself as a strategic tool against difficult-to-control species. The product, currently in the registration phase, is not yet available for commercialization.
The company, a Diamond sponsor of the event, is also bringing ZethaMaxx Evo to the congress, a pre-emergent herbicide that combines three distinct mechanisms of action to enhance management efficiency, ensuring greater flexibility, prolonged residual control, and ease of operation for the producer. In the pasture segment, the highlight will be Tempest E, which arrives with an even more complete positioning: in addition to its effectiveness against difficult and extremely difficult-to-control weeds, it now also covers segments requiring easy and medium control, contributing to more productive pastures and greater profitability in livestock farming.
According to Luciano Teixeira, Herbicides Manager at Sumitomo Chemical, the CBCPD is a fundamental environment for innovation in the field. "The congress is an essential platform for exchanging knowledge and presenting technologies that combine innovation, operational efficiency, and sustainability in weed management," he emphasizes. "Sumitomo Chemical is available to producers to protect the productive potential of their fields and help increase profitability in the field."
In addition to the booth, some papers were selected for oral presentation by the congress committee, and Sumitomo Chemical prepared an exclusive environment for the dissemination of technical knowledge. On August 4th and 5th, from 15 pm to 17 pm, a room will be dedicated to hosting researchers and industry professionals for the presentation of scientific papers and results of field research conducted by the company.
