Sugarcane productivity in the Center-South region recorded an average growth of 7,9% in this harvest (April to October), compared to the 2021/2022 harvest, rising from 68,1 tons of sugarcane per hectare to 73,5 tons/ha.
The numbers are contained in the Harvest Eye Bulletin, released today by the Canavieira Technology Center (CTC). The highlights in agricultural productivity in these seven months of the 2022/2023 harvest were São José do Rio Preto (+22,71) and Araçatuba (+16,8%).
In the month of October, good volumes of rain were observed in Paraná and the southern region of São Paulo (Assis, São Carlos and Piracicaba). In other regions and states, volumes were lower than the historical average.
All regions, except Paraná, had positive variations in agricultural productivity in October when compared to the previous harvest. In October, the average productivity of sugarcane fields in the Center-South region jumped from 55,5 tons of sugarcane per hectare to 67,3 tons/ha, 21,4% more than in the same month of the 2021/2022 harvest.
The data in the Bulletin allow us to infer that the sector, unlike previous years, has been harvesting younger sugarcane fields during the harvest, prioritizing the cutting age.
Regarding raw material quality (ATR), from April to October, the Bulletin shows that most regions presented negative variations due to the better rainfall between the months of June and September. The exceptions were the states of Minas Gerais and Goiás, where no rain was observed and, consequently, the accumulation of sucrose was higher.
