On average, the productivity of sugarcane fields in the Center-South region registered a growth of 19% in the period April to June 2023, compared to the same period in 2022. The average rose from 75,2 tons per hectare (t/ha), in the 2022/2023 harvest, to 91,6 t/ha in the current harvest.

The numbers are contained in the Harvest Eye Bulletin, released today (25/7) by the Canavieira Technology Center (CTC). This improvement in productivity can be attributed to a harvest of younger sugarcane fields – around 60% of all sugarcane harvested so far in the center-south were first to third cut sugarcane fields, and the more favorable climate for the development of the crop.

The productivity of sugarcane fields harvested in June in the Center-South (90,8 t/ha) was 19,2% higher than that recorded in the previous harvest (76,2 t/ha). The quality of the raw material (ATR) harvested in June was superior in practically all regions, with the exception of the regions of São Carlos, Piracicaba and the state of Goiás.

Over the three months of the harvest, the result is quite similar – an increase in the quality of raw material in practically all states (124,1 kg/tc in 2022/23 to 125,8 kg/tc in this harvest) in the Center-South
